Joe Beda is a Principal Engineer at VMware. Joe organizes Kubernetes technical direction across VMware and VMware Tanzu. Joe arrived at VMware via the acquisition of Heptio, a leader in the cloud native movement and a company that he co-founded. Previously, at Google, Joe co-created Google Compute Engine and filed the first ever Kubernetes project commit. He remains a frequent contributor to the open source community.
CTO, Networking and
Security Business Unit
As CTO, Pere is defining strategy and leading an innovation team driving the evolution of networking in the current cloud native application and multi-cloud world. Before VMware, he was the CTO and co-founder of PLUMgrid, which was acquired by VMware. At PLUMgrid, he led the development of products and technologies around SDN for Cloud and Containers as well as innovations in the area of Programmable Dataplanes, including jumpstarting the IOvisor Linux Foundation project.
Pere was previously a Distinguished Engineer at Cisco, where he led multiple successful products in the area of Security, Load Balancing and Data Centers. He holds over 30 patents and a double MSEE from Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya and Politecnico di Torino.
