The Future of
Networking and Security:
How VMware NSX
Can Transform Your Business in 2019

The NSX networking and security platform delivers a software-based infrastructure with consistent connectivity, integrated security, and the inherent automation needed to create an end-to-end architecture that delivers applications and services from the data center to the cloud. In this 3-part webcast series, ‘The Future of Networking and Security: How VMware NSX Can Transform Your Business in 2019,’ we will explore the adaptive micro-segmentation capabilities of NSX – the key to a zero trust model for security; how NSX breaks down the barriers between geographic sites and clouds to create a foundation for the Virtual Cloud Network; and guidelines for deploying NSX Data Center on top of the Cisco ACI switch fabric.

ADAPTIVE MICRO-SEGMENTATION – BUILT-IN APPLICATION SECURITY FROM THE NETWORK TO THE WORKLOAD
Zero trust. Least privilege. Whitelisting. These concepts and strategies have long been considered the best way to secure environments...theoretically. The problem has always been operationalizing them. IT, Security, and even development teams lack the comprehensive understanding of how their applications are intended to behave – from process-level behavior to the network traffic those processes generate – needed to enforce zero trust for their applications...until now. Adaptive Micro-segmentation gives IT and InfoSec teams visibility into how applications are intended to behave and the control points at the network and workload level necessary to operationalize zero trust. Join us to learn how VMware enables Adaptive Micro-segmentation in our customers’ environments.

In this session, we will explore:
  • The proven concepts and best strategies for securing applications in private or public cloud environments
  • How NSX delivers consistent control over the network and workloads that comprise applications
  • Using micro-segmentation to automatically recommend, deploy, and execute security policies

Consistent Networking and Security Across Clouds
As the network and security virtualization platform that lays the foundation for a Virtual Cloud Network, VMware NSX can help break down a number of traditional IT silos, including the barriers between geographic sites and clouds. In this session, we'll introduce the concept of providing a single network configuration and set of security policies across multiple data center sites. We will discuss the various projects that can benefit from NSX Data Center, such as disaster recovery planning, planned downtime for upgrades, and workload mobility. We will also learn about use-cases that NSX Cloud and NSX Hybrid Connect address and see a demo of one of the featured solution use-cases.

Join us for this webcast and learn about:
  • The concept of providing a single network configuration and set of security policies across multiple data center sites
  • Various projects that can benefit from NSX Data Center
  • Use-cases that NSX Cloud and NSX Hybrid Connect address

Deploying NSX Data Center on a Cisco Infrastructure
VMware NSX Data Center has proven its ability for deployment on any switch fabric. Customers have asked for simplification of application deployment on a Cisco infrastructure. VMware developed architectural guides for deploying an NSX Data Center platform on Cisco’s switching fabrics, including a Cisco ACI underlay.

Past VMworld sessions have highlighted NSX on Nexus switching with NX-OS and Cisco UCS infrastructure servers. This session will briefly touch upon these topics as this is well covered territory. The largest portion of the session is a concentration on how to deploy NSX Data Center on a Cisco ACI Underlay. Discussion and demonstrations are provided for what is the minimum required set up for Cisco ACI steps to normalize ACI’s fabric for an NSX Data Center for VMware vSphere or VMware NSX-T Data Center deployment.

In this session, we will demo a featured solution use case and discuss:
  • The strategy behind providing a single network configuration and set of security policies across multiple data center sites
  • How NSX Data Center supports disaster recovery planning, planned downtime for upgrades, and increased workload mobility
  • Examples of key use cases for NSX Cloud and NSX Hybrid Connect
